In the Susana Hospital, on 1 February [1934], following a short illness of lobar pneumonia, died Mrs. Clotilde Santos Salas, wife of Mr. Jose Salas, Detail Draftsman (Architectural) of the Public Works department. The bereaved family consists of a husband and eight children.
The funeral services at the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral, Agaña, Friday morning, 2 February [1934], were attended by the family's many friends and relatives.
Mr. Jose Salas desires to express, through this column, his sincere appreciation for the kindness and sympathy shown in his bereavement and for the beautiful wreathes and flowers sent to the funeral of his wife, Clotilde Santos Salas.
On 20 February [1934], at the age of 93 years, Mr. Jose Mendiola Taitano, died at his home in the district of San Ignacio, Agaña. The late Mr. Taitano is survived by 9 children, 87 grand-children, and 35 great grand-children.
In his youth, Mr. Taitano cruised on an American whaler and visited Honolulu and the United States.
Mr. Taitano, served in many prominent island positions, having been an associate justice of the Court of Appeals from 1901 to 1905.
Funeral services were held at 4:30 p.m., 21 February [1934], at the Baptist Mission Church, and interment was at the Protestant Cemetery in Padre Palomo District.
